Error reports

When the install script stops with an error, it offers to send its log to Ivan. Nothing is sent unless you answer yes. This page says what goes and what happens to it.

What is sent

The install log: the same file the script keeps on your computer as install.log, in ee1os-install in your home folder. It holds the steps the script took, the commands it ran and their output, your operating system and its version, the fastboot version, free disk space, and the phone's model codename, bootloader and radio versions and lock state.

What is removed first

The copy that is sent is saved next to the log as install.sent.log, so you can see exactly what left your computer.

What is kept, and for how long

The log, the time it arrived, which script sent it and the country Cloudflare reports for the connection. Your IP address is not stored with the report: it is used only to allow at most five reports a minute from one address. Logs are stored with Cloudflare, which runs this site, and deleted after 90 days. They can't be read over the web; only Ivan can read them. A one-line summary (report ID, script, phone model, the step that failed) goes to Ivan's own chat.

The report ID

A sent report gets an ID such as R-7F3K. Give it to Ivan when you get in touch (see below), so the log can be found.

Sending a log later

If sending failed, or you said no and changed your mind, send it from the same folder you ran the script in. Replace <time> with the run's folder name:

Windows

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\install.ps1 -Send "$env:USERPROFILE\ee1os-install\<time>\install.log"

macOS and Linux

bash install.sh --send ~/ee1os-install/<time>/install.log

Or send install.sent.log to Ivan yourself. If you installed by hand, without the script, copy the whole terminal output instead.

Getting in touch

For any problem, with the install or on the phone: open a problem report on GitHub (public), or write to hello@ee1os.com. Say which build and phone, what you did and what happened, and the report ID if the script gave you one. Never send your PINs.
